Banff, Alberta — Aquarelle sur papier
A second exploration of the same trail, capturing a different angle and the shifting morning greens. The bold marks record the way the terrain lifts and falls, helping me map how I might one day expand this location into a larger studio work.

This original plein-air watercolour belongs to my 2024 Banff series — intimate field notes painted outdoors to capture the shapes of the mountains, the way light touched the land, and the proportions between rock, water, and sky. Each study helps me remember not only the atmosphere of the hike, but also the “where and how” of the landscape, should I choose to translate it later into a larger studio painting.

Painted in an expressive style with bold lines, gestural mark-making, and a vivid colour palette, this piece also carries subtle drip textures from the plein-air process.

It is part of the collection currently exhibited at Alliance Française Edmonton until February 3.

The framed photos in the listing show the exact frame style (each work includes a mat and matching frame).

Available for purchase here or at the exhibit. Artworks can be picked up after the exhibition ends in Edmonton, Alberta, or for an additional flat fee of $50 will be shipped to your doorstep with careful packaging. Free Shipping for anyone who purchases more than 1 piece.
