Carnet des Sommets: A Poetic Prelude to “Chemin Poétique”
This winter, I am thrilled to present Carnet des Sommets, an intimate exhibition of watercolor sketches born from my hikes in the Canadian Rockies, around Banff (Alberta) in 2024. These very private sketchbooks were created during frosty mornings (sometimes as cold as –9°C), where I captured the raw beauty of the landscape with quick, spontaneous strokes. The cold, the wind, and the fleeting daylight made each brushstroke a rapid admiration more than long plein-air studies.
These sketches serve as a preamble to my upcoming solo show, “Chemin Poétique,” opening April 9 at Galerie CAVA. They represent my first visual investigations — impressions of line, light, and form that would shape my future, larger works.
Showing these pieces at the Alliance Française of Edmonton holds symbolic meaning: this non-profit institution is dedicated to promoting French language and Francophone culture, fostering cultural exchange, art, poetry, history, and ideas. Alliance Francaise d'Edmonton+1 By hosting my work, the Alliance provides a francophone stage for my artistic journey, weaving together language and visual exploration.
